These are the main special events organized in San Giovanni Valdarno

Carnival: the Uffizi are celebrated on the 4 sundays before Shrove Tuesday. During the town parades, some donations are given to the Basilica di Santa Maria delle Grazie. At the end of the parades, there is a lunch organized in the floors below the Basilica where you can taste the typical Stufato of San Giovanni cooking.

Spring Music Festival: an important meeting for classic music lovers.

Valdarno Cinema FEDIC: an italian season of films and videos on the last week of April.

Giugno sangiovannese: Sport and various concerts throughout the month.

June 24: Festa del patrono San Giovanni Battista

September 7/8: Festa della Rificolona - Traditional feast to commemorate the birth of the Madonna. The center of the town grows more lively thanks to shows, big tables and, above all, the competition to award a prize to the most original paper lantern, the so-called rificolone.

Each Saturday morning there is the colourful and characteristic street market in the center of S. Giovanni Valdarno.

In the districts

The Fiera Antiquaria (Antique Fair) will take place on every first Sunday of the month in Arezzo, while on every last Sunday of the mouth it takes place in Terranova B.ni.

Palio di Siena: it takes place on July 2 and on August 16.
